We have had some funding to begin the online support aspects of the network

This is a diary of our journey towards the creation of the Rural Community Carbon Network (RCCN). The journey started in the summer of 2006.
By the autumn of 2006 ruralnet|uk had teamed up with the Carnegie Rural Community Development Programme to raise awareness, promote and support collective approaches to reducing energy use and increasing energy production from renewable sources, or in shorthand, reducing the carbon
footprint of communities.
We have invested in the design of a national programme to support communities who are working collectively to reduce their carbon footprint. The RCCN will promote knowledge transfer and put people at
the leading edge in touch with those who wish to follow them.
The RCCN has started mapping what is already going on and at the same time we are actively seeking
to raise funding to launch the RCCN in October 2007 at the ruralnet|2007 conference. Immediately after the launch we plan to be in a position to provide an Experts Online Service to rural communities. We want to support communities to get online, and inject support when needed.
RCCN is a ruralnet|uk initiative.
ruralnet|uk is a registered charity (Charity number 1089238)
